We regret to report that we have been made aware of racist abuse directed towards Jermaine Francis on social media.

Following the completion of his transfer from Hartlepool United to Sutton United yesterday afternoon, Jermaine received a message on his Snapchat account that included racial abuse.

As a club we condemn racism and discrimination in all forms, in the strongest possible manner. This behaviour has no place in football, or in society, and we are angered that Jermaine has been subjected to such disgusting abuse.

We can’t wait to welcome Jermaine to the VBS Community Stadium and we know our superb supporters will be fully behind him, as well as the whole team, as they have been throughout the season.

We stand with Jermaine and all victims of online discriminatory abuse.

Kick It Out campaigns to make sure football is always welcoming – to everyone – and are here to put an end to every form of discrimination; something which we reiterate. There is no place for racism in football – or anywhere.
