Mo Dabre will play at his highest level since leaving Swindon Town in 2023, and has emphasised how excited he is to begin the 2025/26 season with Sutton.

The Italian midfielder became Steve Morison’s fourth recruit of the summer already after following Edon Pruti, Liam Vincent and Kane Crichlow through the door, with the Head Coach evidently building a side rife with National League South talent.

After putting pen to paper, Dabre highlighted the club’s ambition as a reason for making the move to South London, and how keen he is to play for the club as well.

“It feels great to be at Sutton” he said, “it is a historic club with great ambition and I’m really happy and excited to be here”.

“I’m looking to achieve promotion and I’m looking to improve every day as a player to always be better and I’ll always be here to help the team”.

The young midfielder has cited N’Golo Kanté, Bernardo Silva and Jude Bellingham as key influences to his style of play, as well as been described by Jay Saunders, his manager at Tonbridge Angels, as “an incredibly hard-working, versatile player and a really good person too.”

“I would describe myself as a hard-working player” Dabre added, “I like to get on the ball, go forward and off the ball I like to press. “I’ll always give 100%.”

Dabre also commented on his upbringing, having originally came to England from his native Italy at a young age with his family, as well as how Italian football differs from English football.

“The move to England came about because my dad lost his job in Italy so we came here to find a better life.”

“At the beginning it was hard because of the English [language] and everything but now I’m getting used to it and I’m really enjoying it.”

Having come through the ranks at Calcio Lecco 1912, he also described the difference between Italian and English football, commenting on how coming to a new country has affected his development as a player.

“I think Italian football is a bit more technical and tactical, while English football is a bit faster, physical and more intense.”

While still relatively new to the country, and still getting used to the language barrier and difference in culture, Dabre will certainly benefit from familiar faces in the building having followed Tonbridge teammate Liam Vincent to Gander Green Lane, while he also knows Eduino Vaz who signed last summer, and signed a new deal with the U’s back in February.

“It will help me a lot because I know Liam from Worthing and Tonbridge; he’s a really great guy and a top, top player.”

“I’ve played against Eduino a couple of times, he’s also a great guy and a very good player as well.”

The 22-year old will now be looking to make more memories, having contributed to play-off campaigns with both Chippenham Town and Worthing, as well as notably scoring on his Swindon Town debut against Arsenal’s Under-21’s.

“During my time at Swindon I played with great players ad players with great experience in higher leagues. I learnt a lot there and really enjoyed my time at Swindon”

“It [his debut] was my professional game. It was good against a big club like Arsenal, and even though it was against the Under-21’s it was special. I scored and won Man of the Match so I have good memories”
