Sutton’s Cerebral Palsy team have picked up their first piece of silverware in their inaugural season winning the National Cerebral Palsy Shield after picking up two wins today over Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea.

The opening game of the day saw the Sutton pick up a 2-1 victory over Brighton with goals from Ashley Cunliffe and Reuben Taylor-West. An important victory as this secured the Shield for the U’s.

The second game of the afternoon saw Sutton take on Chelsea, where the U’s came out 3-1 winners. Callum Christie opened the scoring for the U’s followed by goals by Hassan Dabre and Ned Kelly. Allowing the newly formed Cerebral Palsy side to sign off the day in style.

‘The club have been so supportive in, firstly setting the team up and then throughout the season, you know, the things that I’ve asked to be put in place to help the lads get this sort of reward. They’ve been behind us all the way, which is fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for more really.’
