Sutton United are proud to announce that our Disability Team were crowned Ability 3 champions at the 2025 George Best Community Cup, held in Belfast earlier this month.
The two-day tournament, organised by the Irish FA Foundation and supported by the Mary Peters Trust, saw 73 teams and over 500 players from across the UK and Ireland compete at the Billy Neill Centre in Dundonald. The event, now a highlight of the disability football calendar, was played across four ability bands on 15 pitches.
Competing in the Ability 3 section, Sutton United delivered a series of strong performances to secure the title — once again showcasing the strength and spirit of the club’s growing disability football programme.
There was also individual recognition for Sutton United player Paul Young, who was named Player of the Tournament in the Ability 3 category.
The club would like to congratulate all players, coaches and supporters involved in this year’s tournament, and extend our thanks to the Irish FA Foundation and its volunteers for another successful event celebrating inclusive football.
The George Best Community Cup continues to be an important opportunity for our players to compete, connect and represent Sutton United on a national stage — and we’re proud to return home with silverware once again.
