Goal A
Will Tizzard vs York City (10th January)
Sutton made a fine start to their opening game of 2026, and opened the scoring against highflying York City when Will Tizzard struck from just inside the box.
They were rewarded when Lewis Simper’s corner from the right was headed away, but headed back in to the danger area by Hayden Muller and turned in by Tizzard. Despite remaining on the front foot, U’s were unable to add to Tizzard’s strike and midway through the half were pegged back.
Again the goal came from a corner, U’s only clearing as far as Hiram Boateng on the edge of the penalty area, and he hammered a shot back through the crowded area and past Jack Sims, who would have seen it late.
Goal B
Ella Meehan vs Actonians Women (18th January)
Ella Meehan doubled Sutton’s lead against Actonians Women in spectacular fashion.
Milly Cutler was fouled 15 yards inside the Actonians half and, not for the first time this season, Meehan delivered an accurate free kick that flew in to the top corner of the net with the keeper helpless. Cutler also had a chance from a free kick after Briana Gilbert-Lawal had run on to a superb Spear pass and been tripped on the edge of the penalty area, but this time the keeper was able to save.
Goal C
Davide Rodari vs Tamworth (24th January)
Davide Rodari produced a superb impact off the bench and finished off a fine team move to score his first goal for the club.
A good move through the midfield involving Hayden Muller, Lewis Simper, Jake Taylor and Kai Jennings ended with Will Tizzard playing a pass forward for Simper, who managed to wrap his right foot around it before it went out of play to deliver a low cross that was met stylishly at the near post by Rodari.
Goal D
Ashley Nadesan vs Brackley Town (31st January)
Ashley Nadesan marked his first start since returning from injury with a goal as Sutton closed out January with a 1-1 draw against Brackley Town.
After Junior Eccleston brilliantly won the ball back, Lewis Simper picked up the pieces before sliding Kai Jennings down the right flank, who delivered the ball across the face of goal towards debutant Jermaine Francis.
Despite being unable to tap the ball home, the former Hartlepool United man superbly recovered to keep the ball in play and the chance alive, scrambling the ball back for Nadesan Nadesan to tap in.
