Dillon De Silva has been selected by Sri Lanka for the upcoming June FIFA International Window, with the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) officially confirmed two crucial international matches to take place at the start of the month.

The Golden Army last took to the pitch in March with a friendly win over Laos, and was followed by defeat against Thailand in the Asia Cup Qualification, with De Silva absent for both due to injury sustained in Sutton’s win over Maidenhead United.

The 23-year old will now return to the international stage, having last appeared for his national side in November as Abdullah Al Mutairi’s side won and were defeated by Yemen in two international friendlies, and will now hope to add an 18th and 19th Sri Lanka cap to his tally this summer.

The first match, an international friendly, will take place on Thursday, 5th June (kick-off TBD) against Brunei in Thailand, following a two week-long preparatory training camp in Bangkok. Sri Lanka is expected to field a full-strength squad, aiming for a positive result that will contribute to an upward movement in the FIFA World Rankings.

The second match, a high-stakes encounter against Chinese Taipei, will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and marks a pivotal moment in the Golden Army’s AFC Asia Cup campaign. Looking to bounce back from defeat in the first match of Group D against Thailand in March, Sri Lanka are set to take on the Taiwanese side on Tuesday, 10th June, kicking off at 11:15am (GMT), before facing Turkmenistan in October.

The match is also expected to attract a capacity crowd at the Racecourse International Stadium, promising an electric atmosphere for the national team’s return to competitive action on home soil.

De Silva has already taken part in a well-structured training program which is currently underway, demonstrating the progress of the National Team under the dynamic leadership and vision of FFSL President, Jaswar Umar. Since his appointment, Sri Lanka has made a notable leap in the global rankings, rising from 207th to 200th in just eight months.

The upcoming Asian Cup is set to take place in Saudi Arabia between January and February 2027, and the Golden Army will be looking to qualify for the finals for the first time.
