Academy defender Jay Coombes has received his maiden call-up to the the Gibraltar first team, with the 19-year old being selected for Los Llanis’ upcoming international friendlies against British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Scott Wiseman’s side begin preparations for their UEFA Nations League campaign in September with two warm-up matches at the Europa Point Stadium, welcoming the two CONCACAF outfits this June.

They will host British Virgin Islands on Wednesday, 3rd June (6pm KO) looking to secure their first win since October 2024, when they beat San Marino in a Nations League clash, before taking on the Cayman Islands on Saturday, 6th June (6pm KO).

Coombes last took on international action with the Under-19s, captaining the side in an 8-0 defeat to Croatia and a controversial 1-0 defeat against Georgia, as Team 54 started their qualifying campaign for the 2026 UEFA Under-19 European Championships in Wales.
