Getting to the Ground

Stadium Address:

VBS Community Stadium

Gander Green Ln

Sutton

SM1 2EY

By Car

Travel along the M25, exiting at Junction 8. Then travel north on the A217 for about 15-20 minutes. Ignoring signs for Sutton itself, stay on the A217 to the traffic lights by the Gander Inn (on the left), turn right into Gander Green Lane. The Borough Sports Ground is about 200 yards up this road on the left hand side. If you reach West Sutton Station you have gone too far.

On matchdays, the club car park in Gander Green Lane is for parking permit holders only. Away fans should park in Gibson Road, the local municipal car-park. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk from Gibson Road to the stadium. Click here for more information regarding parking, while a map of Gibson Road can be found here.

By Rail

It is recommended that visiting supporters use Sutton station, which is on the main lines out of Victoria and London Bridge and is at the top end of Sutton High Street, about 20 minutes’ walk from the ground. Two buses between Morden and Sutton stations run conveniently close to our stadium: route 413 bus goes down Gander Green Lane, and number 80 runs along Collingwood Road. The ground can then be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec.

West Sutton railway station is adjacent to the ground. It is served by Thameslink trains via Wimbledon or Sutton. Come out of West Sutton station and turn right into Gander Green Lane and the ground is about 100 yards further along. Away fans should walk past the main entrance and after about 70 yards turn right into Collingwood Recreation Ground, where the away turnstiles 5-8 are situated.

By Bus

The 413 service runs past the ground down Gander Green Lane. The bus leaves Sutton town centre from outside the main post office. The 80 route from Hackbridge to Belmont runs down Collingwood Road. The ground can be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec. Both routes also connect with the Northern Line at Morden.

London Buses are now cashless. Fares are a flat £1.75, and this includes multiple journeys within a one-hour period of the first “touch in” with a contactless payment card or Oyster card.

Accessibility

All accessible entrances will be open as detailed in the stadium map below:

We currently have spaces for ten wheelchair users (seven home, three away) and we would ask anyone who needs to use this facility to book in advance (contactus@suttonunited.net). If any wheelchair user needs to park at our stadium, please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements to welcome you. We have accessible toilets at both ends of the ground and in the main stand. Ambulant supporters will need to climb a handful of steps as there are currently no lifts.

For more information, supporters can access the club’s FAQs, which can be found here.

Full Fan Guides for both home and away fans can also be accessed here.

Footballing activities will be available in the fanzone, including table football, as well as the bar and club shop being open.

Please note that season tickets are once again available to collect prior to kick-off, with turnstiles opening from 12:30pm.

Supporters should enter through Gate A, where tickets collection will be located, and are encouraged to arrive early to avoid queues. Please bring valid ID or confirmation of your season ticket purchase when collecting.

Stat Attack

3 – Carlisle make their third visit to Gander Green Lane on the weekend, with both of the previous two games coming in League Two

Last Time We Met

Sutton finished the 2022/23 EFL season by ending a run of six successive defeats, but were unable to give the home supporters a victory to take in to the close season as Joe Kizzi’s luckless own goal with five minutes to go giving Carlisle an equaliser which confirmed their place in the end of season play-offs.

It was an entertaining game, and a Sutton performance that was much improved from the disappointing defeats at Colchester and Rochdale, and while the late own goal denied U’s the three points there was much to encourage U’s supporters, with Kylian Kouassi making the most of a full 90 minutes with a display that emphasised his promise and Sam Hart enjoying a game as a left sided midfielder.

U’s didn’t need to wait long to go in front, though, as Kouassi muscled Jack Armer out of a midfield challenge to attack on the right, and having laid the ball back to Enzio Boldewijn continued his run in to the penalty area to receive Boldewijn’s return pass and thread a low left footed shot in to the far corner of the net.

However, with five minutes to go Ben Barclay’s long throw flicked off Ben Goodliffe and a further deflection off Kizzi, making his 100th Sutton appearance and announced before the game as the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year, left Jack Rose wrong footed and saw the ball bounce in to the net.

Jayden Harris

Jayden Harris made the return to South London when he joined Sutton in the summer of 2024, having spent two years in Cumbria with Carlisle United.

Born in Croydon, Harris began his career with Fulham and made over 100 appearances at Under 23 level, having joined at the age of ten, and spent over ten years at Craven Cottage where he rose through the ranks.

A loan move at Woking in 2020 saw him gain first team experience during a brief spell before departing the Whites at the end of the new deal to join Aldershot Town, before moving on loan to Hampton & Richmond Borough in 2021.

Harris was then picked up by Carlisle ahead of the 2022/23 season and made the long move up north looking to carve out a career in the EFL, ending the season by winning promotion to League One via the play-offs, having played 24 times in all competitions throughout the campaign.

Manager Paul Simpson deemed Harris to not be in the plans ahead of their return to League One following a nine-year absence, and he subsequently moved on loan to Eastleigh for the 2023/24 campaign.

After playing 17 times for the Spitfires, Harris dropped into the National League permanently after being released from Brunton Park, joining Sutton where, barring a season-ending Achilles injury in November 2024, he has been a regular figure in midfield.
