Last Time We Met

Farnham secured a place in the final of the Surrey Senior Cup with victory over a youthful Sutton, setting up a clash with South Park (Reigate) at Dorking Wanderers’ Meadowbank.

Jack Dean opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when he headed a corner beyond Sam Roberts, and doubled their advantage when Lewis Flatman rifled a volley into the top corner just three minutes later.

And it was three before the game had even reached the half-hour mark, with Flatman adding his second of the evening when he brought down a long ball, before driving a reverse shot into the bottom corner.

As a result, the Town took a 3-0 lead into the break, and saw out the win against a U’s Academy side which included the likes of Junior Eccleston, Adam Reeves and James Fennelow, three players who have since risen into the First Team, despite a handful of second half chances for the hosts.

Played for Both

Kai Tanner

The son of Farnham Town’s Director and former manager, Paul Tanner, Kai Tanner joined Sutton on a two-year scholarship from Farnham, before returning to the Memorial Ground in 2023.

An attacking midfielder, he began his football journey in Farnham’s youth academy, progressing through the Under-18s and Under-23s before breaking into the first team.

In 2021, Sutton, then in League Two, on a two-year scholarship, before on loan to Corinthian Casuals, with his spell being cut short due to injury. This led to his return to Farnham in August 2023, and since rejoining he has made significant contributions, scoring 11 goals in 75 appearances over two seasons and playing a pivotal role in the club’s back-to-back promotions.

Notably, he scored the goal that sparked a comeback in a 2-2 draw against Jersey Bulls, securing promotion to Step 4 for the first time.
