Getting to the Ground

Stadium Address:

Shaw Hill

West Yorkshire

Halifax

HX1 2YT

By Car

Head out onto the A217 northwards towards the M25 and join the motorway system. Take the M25 west and then north before switching onto the M1 (or alternatively M40/A41 depending on traffic) and follow it out of the London area. Continue on major trunk roads towards Leeds/Bradford, then merge onto the M62 westbound towards Halifax. Exit at junction 24, follow signs for A629 Halifax into Skircoat Road, then onto Shaw Hill where you will find the ground.

The Shay has a large council-operated car park on-site (HX1 2YT), charged at standard rates. Spaces are limited on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended.
Additional parking can be found in Halifax town centre, which is around a 10–15 minute walk from the stadium.

By Rail

The Shay Stadium is a five to ten minutes walk from Halifax station, which can be reached from London King’s Cross via one change at Leeds.

Take the Thameslink to King’s Cross St. Pancras before walking across to London King’s Cross to catch a London North Eastern Railway service – terminating at Harrogate – to Leeds. Then switch to a Northern service towards Manchester Victoria, alighting at Halifax. In total, the journey should take up to four-and-a-half hours.

From the station, leave the car park, turn left and the ground is on your right in half-a-mile.

By Coach

The coach for our trip to Halifax will depart from Gander Green Lane at 7m.

Tickets for this journey cost £60 (Return) and £40 (Single/U16), and the Supporters’ Club request supporters to meet at 6:45am

Bookings can be taken via The Supporters’ Hub on matchdays or email suttonunitedcoachtravel.com.

Any short notice changes will be highlighted on www.suttonunitedsupportersclub.co.uk.

Accessibility

The Skircoat West Stand is all seater down the Skircoat Road side of the Shay Stadium, and will house those wishing to sit, whilst the North Stand terrace will be available for those wishing to stand on the afternoon.

Both stands use turnstiles 2-6 and 7, which open an hour before kick-off. Once inside the ground, stewards will direct supporters to the relevant stands.

Under-14s must be accompanied by a person 18 years or older.

Wheelchair & Ambulant Disabled

Facilities for wheelchair users are available at 2nd and 3rd tier levels of the East Stand where they, and some blind spectators, can share one of two balconies.

Access for wheelchair users and their carers is via a lift inside the main entrance to the stadium (East stand) where an official will collect admission monies and sell match day programmes.

Catering facilities are at ground floor level in this stand so persons with mobility impairments, using the upper levels, may request assistance from an official at the entrance if they wish to avail themselves of these facilities.

Toilet facilities for people with disabilities are available at both balcony levels.

For further advice/assistance you should contact the Club Office on 01422 341222.

Last Time We Met

First half goals from Junior Eccleston, his first senior goal for the club, and Brandon Njoku gave Sutton a well deserved win and moved U’s out of the Enterprise National League’s bottom four. The goals underlined a fine first half performance, and although Halifax came in to the game more after the break their hopes of staging a comeback were frustrated by Tommy Reid’s fine penalty save from Shaun Hobson.

Sutton were on the front foot from the start, and their enterprising start received its reward when a move that started slowly deep inside U’s half developed quickly with David Ogbonna’s pace on the left giving him the chance to whip in a terrific low cross that Njoku couldn’t connect with at the near post, but Eccleston was coming in at the far post to hammer the ball in to the net.

It was no more than U’s deserved, and just after the half hour mark they had an even firmer grip on the game with Kai Jennings the creator, seeming to miss a chance to get a shot away but instead creating space on the right of the penalty area to chip in a cross that Njoku brought down before sweeping past the helpless Johnston.

The visitors came out stronger in the second half, while Sutton struggled to recapture their form of the first half, and Reid was soon in action to save a low cross shot from Jamie Cooke. The chance for the game to turn came on the hour when Edon Pruti impeded Cooke as they contested a long ball over the top. Referee Carl Brook pointed to the penalty spot and booked Pruti, but Hobson’s powerfully struck penalty was superbly kept out by Reid to his right, allowing Sutton to maintain their two-goal cushion for the remainder of the second half.

Played for Both

Dubem Eze

Dubem Eze joined Sutton on a permanent deal from Bolton Wanderers in January 2026, having spent the previous campaign briefly on loan at FC Halifax Town.

Hailing from Morden, South London, Eze’s career began in the youth ranks at Chelsea where he spent the bulk of his early years, before switches to Derby County and Norwich City saw him make the bold decision to move away from home.

Initially turning out for the latter at Under-21 level, he gained senior experience on loan at Warrington Town before earning a move to Bolton Wanderers’ B Team, having scored twice in six appearances during his stint with the Yellows.

The 20-year old went on to appear a handful of times for the Trotters, as well as impressing in training throughout his time in Lancashire, but continued to gain invaluable minutes away on loan once more.

Eze spent the bulk of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Chorley, but ended the season one step up when he moved to FC Halifax Town, closing out the season by helping the Shaymen achieve top seven status and a shot at promotion via the play-offs.

This preceded a move to newly promoted outfit Scunthorpe United last summer, with the midfielder appearing a handful of times as the Iron have defied all expectations to sit towards the top end of the fifth tier, before opting to move to make the switch away from his parent club on a permanent basis as he looks to further his career closer to home, so far appearing four times, including one goal – a spectacular free kick against Horley Town.
