Last Time We Met
Three first half goals saw Sutton breeze past Walton & Hersham in the First Round of the Surrey Senior Cup.
Dan Wishart and Tom Bolarinwa got the U’s off the mark, producing a real threat down the right flank to put Paul Doswell’s side in the ascendancy, before Craig Dundas put gloss on the scoreline before the half was out with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
While the second half was a bit of a non-event, the work had already been done in the opening 45 minutes, setting up a Second Round tie with Corinthian-Casuals which Sutton also won, and was followed by further victories over Knaphill and Godalming Town as the U’s reached the semi-final.

Played for Both
Junior Eccleston
Of the current crop of Sutton players, two spent time at Walton & Hersham on loan last season, these players being Kai Jennings and, perhaps more notably from a U’s perspective, Junior Eccleston, who was a virtual ever-present in the Swans’ team prior to breaking into the side at Sutton.
The 18-year-old defender, who was rewarded for his outstanding progress in the Sutton Academy with his first professional deal in the summer, initially broke into the team during pre-season with an appearance against Tonbridge Angels ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, before making his full competitive debut for the club back in September against Ebbsfleet United, and followed it up with five appearances in the National League Cup which included one start.
He otherwise spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Walton & Hersham, playing 32 times in all competitions as Billy Rowley’s side reached the Southern League Premier Division South play-offs, and gained some crucial experience in men’s football for the first time in his career. Alongside his loan spell though, Eccleston continued to train with the Sutton first team throughout the campaign and has allowed him to really kick on, with his first pro deal being a deserved reward following a successful year for the defender.
He has since become a regular part of the team, and after primarily featuring as cover for Aaron Jones, the arrival of Chris Agutter has seen Eccleston flourish, appearing a total of 21 times, including five starts in a row in the league prior to the recent run of cup games. The defender also notched his first senior goal for the club, scoring the opener in a 2-0 win over FC Halifax Town last month.
