Getting to the Ground
Stadium Address:
VBS Community Stadium
Gander Green Ln
Sutton
SM1 2EY
By Car
Travel along the M25, exiting at Junction 8. Then travel north on the A217 for about 15-20 minutes. Ignoring signs for Sutton itself, stay on the A217 to the traffic lights by the Gander Inn (on the left), turn right into Gander Green Lane. The Borough Sports Ground is about 200 yards up this road on the left hand side. If you reach West Sutton Station you have gone too far.
On matchdays, the club car park in Gander Green Lane is for parking permit holders only. Away fans should park in Gibson Road, the local municipal car-park. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk from Gibson Road to the stadium. Click here for more information regarding parking, while a map of Gibson Road can be found here.
By Rail
It is recommended that visiting supporters use Sutton station, which is on the main lines out of Victoria and London Bridge and is at the top end of Sutton High Street, about 20 minutes’ walk from the ground. Two buses between Morden and Sutton stations run conveniently close to our stadium: route 413 bus goes down Gander Green Lane, and number 80 runs along Collingwood Road. The ground can then be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec.
West Sutton railway station is adjacent to the ground. It is served by Thameslink trains via Wimbledon or Sutton. Come out of West Sutton station and turn right into Gander Green Lane and the ground is about 100 yards further along. Away fans should walk past the main entrance and after about 70 yards turn right into Collingwood Recreation Ground, where the away turnstiles 5-8 are situated.
By Bus
The 413 service runs past the ground down Gander Green Lane. The bus leaves Sutton town centre from outside the main post office. The 80 route from Hackbridge to Belmont runs down Collingwood Road. The ground can be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec. Both routes also connect with the Northern Line at Morden.
London Buses are now cashless. Fares are a flat £1.75, and this includes multiple journeys within a one-hour period of the first “touch in” with a contactless payment card or Oyster card.

Accessibility
All accessible entrances will be open as detailed in the stadium map below:

We currently have spaces for ten wheelchair users (seven home, three away) and we would ask anyone who needs to use this facility to book in advance (contactus@suttonunited.net). If any wheelchair user needs to park at our stadium, please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements to welcome you. We have accessible toilets at both ends of the ground and in the main stand. Ambulant supporters will need to climb a handful of steps as there are currently no lifts.

Full Fan Guides for both home and away fans can also be accessed here.

Last Time We Met
After going two goals up in less than 25 minutes, playing some good football and giving their supporters every reason to believe that an upturn in fortunes was on the way, Sutton’s afternoon at Grosvenor Vale disintegrated as a Wealdstone side buoyed by being gifted a way back in to the game before half time stormed back in the second half to leave U’s facing a first defeat under Chris Agutter.
The U’s led in the 16th minute when Georgiou managed to cut out a Nadesan pass intended for Simper, but then saw his attempted clearance rebound off Simper’s foot and flash back past Baptiste. Eight minutes later U’s led by two for the first time this season as Noa Boutin and Simper combined well on the right before Simper’s inside pass allowed Jennings to turn past a defender and fire low in to the net to claim a fine debut goal.
Sutton might have had more in the first half as Dante Baptiste saved well from Jayden Harris and Boutin, the first of those chances coming after a fine move involving Nadesan and Simper, and another Harris shot was blocked away for a corner, but amid these opportunities U’s had given Wealdstone reason for hope as Reid’s clearance went straight to Sak Hassan, an early substitute for Junior Tiensia, and Hassan’s direct run ended with a pass that put Micah Obiero through to beat Reid.
Sutton would still have been encouraged with the half time situation having played some of their best football of the season, but Wealdstone, whose supporters had shown signs of disappointment in the first half, came out strongly for the second half and soon had their fans behind them as for twenty minutes U’s struggled to get out of their own half. It took seven minutes for the equaliser to come, Phillip Chinedu’s fine cross from the left met first time with an unstoppable half volley by Hassan at the far post, and eleven minutes later, following a succession of corners, Hassan’s flag kick from the left was headed in by McAvoy although there may also have been a touch off Harry Phipps.
Agutter’s side were still vulnerable to some speedy Wealdstone attacks and Hassan was denied what would have been a stunning solo goal by an equally stunning tackle in the penalty area from Junior Eccleston. Hayden Muller also produced a good late intervention, and Reid saved from Nathan Tshikuna and Obiero, but the pattern of six goals in Sutton matches wasn’t to be ended as, deep in stoppage time, Hassan completed a hat trick of assists by setting up Georgiou for a low shot between Reid and his near post.

Played for Both
Craig Eastmond
Former club captain Craig Eastmond joined Wealdstone last summer following his release from Sutton, having made a name for himself as a firm fans’ favourite and club legend over a superb ten-year spell at Gander Green Lane.
An Arsenal academy product, Eastmond had gained experience on loan at Millwall, Wycombe Wanderers and Colchester United early on in his career, but barring a permanent stint at the latter, struggled to experience regular senior football. A brief spell at Yeovil Town saw him appear just once, but the grass would prove to be greener in his next move which saw him arrive in South London ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Eastmond would contribute to a National League South-winning season in his debut campaign, with his performances earning him the Club Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards as well as being included in the National League South Team of the Season. He would continue his positive displays into the following season in the fifth tier, being Player of the Month for November following a string of impressive performances, as well as appearing in every round of Sutton’s historic run to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Having already established himself as a central figure within Sutton’s team, Eastmond was named in the 2017/18 National League Team of the Season after helping the U’s to achieve a best ever league finish of third in England’s fifth tier, and was named club captain ahead of the following campaign In which he would lead the club to the National League title, winning promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history and topping off the season with the club’s Player of the Year award for a second time.
The skipper went on to appear almost 100 times in League Two for the club, contributing to a stunning eighth place finish in their first year as well as scoring at Wembley Stadium in the Papa John’s Trophy Final. He would be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2022, and departed the VBS Community Stadium following relegation at the end of the 2023/24 season, exiting with more than 300 appearances to his name.
The 34-year old returned to the National League himself with a move to Wealdstone following his Sutton exit, and made 14 appearances for the Stones before joining Matt Gray at Eastbourne Borough in the summer, establishing himself as a regular in midfield in the National League South, featuring 27 times so far.
