Getting to the Ground
Stadium Address:
VBS Community Stadium
Gander Green Ln
Sutton
SM1 2EY
By Car
Travel along the M25, exiting at Junction 8. Then travel north on the A217 for about 15-20 minutes. Ignoring signs for Sutton itself, stay on the A217 to the traffic lights by the Gander Inn (on the left), turn right into Gander Green Lane. The Borough Sports Ground is about 200 yards up this road on the left hand side. If you reach West Sutton Station you have gone too far.
On matchdays, the club car park in Gander Green Lane is for parking permit holders only. Away fans should park in Gibson Road, the local municipal car-park. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk from Gibson Road to the stadium. Click here for more information regarding parking, while a map of Gibson Road can be found here.
By Rail
It is recommended that visiting supporters use Sutton station, which is on the main lines out of Victoria and London Bridge and is at the top end of Sutton High Street, about 20 minutes’ walk from the ground. Two buses between Morden and Sutton stations run conveniently close to our stadium: route 413 bus goes down Gander Green Lane, and number 80 runs along Collingwood Road. The ground can then be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec.
West Sutton railway station is adjacent to the ground. It is served by Thameslink trains via Wimbledon or Sutton. Come out of West Sutton station and turn right into Gander Green Lane and the ground is about 100 yards further along. Away fans should walk past the main entrance and after about 70 yards turn right into Collingwood Recreation Ground, where the away turnstiles 5-8 are situated.
By Bus
The 413 service runs past the ground down Gander Green Lane. The bus leaves Sutton town centre from outside the main post office. The 80 route from Hackbridge to Belmont runs down Collingwood Road. The ground can be reached by taking the path through Collingwood Rec. Both routes also connect with the Northern Line at Morden.
London Buses are now cashless. Fares are a flat £1.75, and this includes multiple journeys within a one-hour period of the first “touch in” with a contactless payment card or Oyster card.

Accessibility
All accessible entrances will be open as detailed in the stadium map below:

We currently have spaces for ten wheelchair users (seven home, three away) and we would ask anyone who needs to use this facility to book in advance (contactus@suttonunited.net). If any wheelchair user needs to park at our stadium, please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements to welcome you. We have accessible toilets at both ends of the ground and in the main stand. Ambulant supporters will need to climb a handful of steps as there are currently no lifts.
For more information, supporters can access the club’s FAQs, which can be found here.
Full Fan Guides for both home and away fans can also be accessed here.
Footballing activities will be available in the fanzone, including table football, as well as the bar and club shop being open.

Last Time We Met
A late debut goal for Brandon Njoku rescued a point away at York City, having trailed thanks to goals from Ollie Pearce and Callum Howe.
Pearce opened the scoring after just 11 minutes from the penalty spot, arrowing a powerful strike into the top corner after Tyrese Sinclair was tripped in the box, but couldn’t repeat his efforts 15 minutes later when the Minstermen were awarded a second spot-kick after Liam Vincent was penalised for a handball, with Pearce sending his shot wide of the target via the post.
Sutton took advantage of this lifeline, and drew level on the stroke of half time when Ashley Nadesan broke away down the left flank and slid the ball into the middle, where David Ogbonna was alert to squeeze the ball over the line despite Mark Kitching’s best efforts to clear it.
York restored their advantage on the hour-mark though as a corner was turned home by Howe, but despite leading for the remainder of the half, Sutton rescued a point when Jack Taylor’s flick-on fell to Njoku, who slid the ball past Harrison Male with a true poacher’s finish to steal a point on opening day.

Alex Woodyard
Alex Woodyard joined Sutton on a free transfer in January 2025, arriving on an 18-month contract following his release from Colchester United, from whom he joined from York.
Having started his career at Charlton Athletic, Woodyard moved to Southend United at the age of 16 and made his professional debut the same year, starting in the Shrimpers’ 3–1 away loss to Burton Albion in League Two. He would go on to make three appearances by the time he turned 17 and later gained experience out on loan at Farnborough and Braintree Town, the latter preceding a period back at Southend in which he won successive Player of the Month awards in October and November 2012.
He would depart Roots Hall permanently ahead of the 2013/14 campaign, with stints at Dartford and Concord Rangers preceding a return to Braintree in 2015. He would impress during his brief spell back at Cressing Road and later followed manager Danny Cowley to Lincoln City in 2016, and it was during his time at Sincil Bank where Woodyard gained his first taste of silverware. Woodyard ended the 2016/17 season as the Imps’ Player of the Season as the club won promotion back to the Football League as Conference Premier champions, ending a seven-year absence from the fourth tier.
A successful two-year spell at Lincoln would come to an end in 2018 when he opted to join Peterborough United, departing with over 100 appearances to his name. He would captain the side during the 2018/19 season and featured 70 times over two years, before a loan spell at Tranmere Rovers brought his time at London Road to an end.
Woodyard would make the switch to AFC Wimbledon and enjoyed a successful three-year stint in South London, making 123 appearances and notably scoring against arch-rivals MK Dons. A brief spell at York City followed, with the midfielder spending a season at the LNER Community Stadium before he reunited with manager Cowley at Colchester in the summer of 2024.
The midfielder spent half-a-season at the JobServe Community Stadium, but opted to drop into the National League to join Sutton midway through the campaign, and has largelhy played a key role in the dressing room as well as captaining the side on occasion as well, with the England C international turning out 28 times in all competitions for the club.
