After drawing two blanks at Gander Green Lane this week, Sutton head further afield this weekend, making one of the longest trips of the season to take on Barrow. Over the last ten games Barrow are top of the form table, having won eight and drawn two, and after an FA Cup defeat at home to Solihull and a league defeat at Torquay last Saturday had halted a run of seven consecutive wins, they bounced back with a 2-0 win at Dagenham on Tuesday and are in fifth place in the table going in to tomorrow’s game, five points behind leaders Bromley, whose only defeat at Hayes Lane they inflicted four weeks ago. A feature of the season for Barrow has been the scarcity of draws, with only one game finishing with the points shared, and at home they have won five and lost to Hartlepool, Harrogate and Halifax.

Sutton are, of course, at the other end of the table, both actual and form, without a win since the 4-0 defeat of Chesterfield, and Tuesday’s defeat by Halifax a third league defeat in a row, but U’s will be hoping that the attacking play which has brought 26 corners in the last two games will have some end result, and will hope to repeat the result and performance that they produced on a similarly long trip to Hartlepool in August.

U’s have never won at Barrow, and since promotion three years ago have drawn twice and lost once, an unlucky 2-1 reverse last season in which U’s were denied two legitimate goals before Aswad Thomas’s late consolation effort (above).

Advance tickets for the game are still available at a discount, although it has been announced this week that Under 16s will be admitted free, as will past and present members of the armed forces, due to it being Barrow’s last home game before remembrance weekend. Any Under 16s who have already purchased tickets on line will be contacted by Barrow for a refund.

We will have commentary on our Mixlr channel as usual.

There is a game at Sutton tonight, with a young academy side facing Crawley Down Gatwick in the Suburban League Cup (7.45), while tomorrow Sutton Common Rovers take on Raynes Park Vale in an FA Vase tie switched from RPV’s Grand Drive ground (3pm)
