Sutton will be hoping that a change of manager brings a change of luck at Eastleigh(travel and admission details here), travelling down the M3 tonight to try and pick up a first win on the ground since September 2007, the season before Paul Doswell took over. Since then U’s have failed to bring anything back from the Silverlake Stadium in league competition, with no more than a goal between the sides apart from one heavy defeat for U’s back in 2012. Last season U’s looked set for a point with the scores tied at 2-2 only for a late goal to clinch the points again for Eastleigh.
It should be added that Eastleigh’s league record at Sutton over the same period isn’t a lot better, but U’s will travel tonight optimistic that they can reverse the recent trend against a side who beat Notts County on the opening but have then suffered defeats at Yeovil and Barrow, while U’s have a win and two draws from the first three games. Eastleigh lost a number of players during the summer having reached the play-offs last season, where they only lost to Salford on penalties, and defender Josh Hare (Bristol Rovers), midfielder Mark Yeates (Fylde) and leading scorer Paul McCallum (Solihull) are all with different clubs this season.
Kenny Davis and Craig Eastmond could both be in contention tonight after being sidelined through injury.
There will be commentary on the game on our Mixlr channel from 7.45 this evening.
