After two and a half weeks without a competitive game, Sutton return to action tomorrow with King’s Lynn making their first visit to Gander Green Lane. Promoted as National League North champions last season, King’s Lynn come in to the game on the back of last week’s superb FA Cup win at Port Vale, which has earned them a second round trip to Portsmouth which will be shown live on the BBC and BT digital platforms.
The Norfolk side, whose manager Ian Culverhouse was a member of the Norwich City side that beat Sutton in the FA Cup in 1989, began their debut season at this level with a battling draw against Yeovil and a 3-2 win at Maidenhead, but then suffered a run of four defeats before ending that with a 3-2 defeat of Woking with two goals from Jamar Loza, with whom U’s will be familiar from his days with Maidstone and Woking. They will name an unchanged squad from last week’s FA Cup success, with the addition of Kairo Mitchell, who was cup-tied at Vale Park.
It’s only Sutton’s fifth league game of the season, but winning four of those sees U’s go in to the game in fifth place and hoping to pick up where they left off two and a half weeks ago at Yeovil. Coby Rowe picked up a serious kidney injury in that game and is likely to be out for about three months, while Ben Wyatt is also a doubt with a foot injury.
Manager Matt Gray looked forward to the game when he spoke to SUFCtv earlier in the week, as well as reflecting on what has been an unusual season so far. You can watch the interview here.
SUFCtv will be again providing coverage of the game via a live stream. The price is £9.50 and passes can be bought here. Season ticket holders receive a code by email which will enable them to watch the game free of charge.
