Getting to the Ground
Stadium Address:
Victoria Avenue
Southend-on-Sea
Essex
SS2 6NQ
By Car
Head out of Sutton toward the M25 and join the motorway heading east. From the M25 take junction 29 and follow the A127 to Southend.
Continue towards the city centre, through the lights. At the Cuckoo Corner roundabout turn right (third turning), continuing on the A127. The ground is on the right, just past the next set of traffic lights.
Unfortunately, there is no matchday parking sold at Roots Hall except to season car park holders. There is limited street parking available around the stadium, but be aware of residents-only restrictions in some areas.
It’s recommended to park further out from the stadium and walk to avoid congestion. Several pay-and-display car parks are located near Southend City Centre, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium. These include:
- Southend Council Car Park
- University Square Car Park
- Priory Park Car Park
- Warrior Square Car Park
- Short Street Car Park
- Tylers Avenue Car Park
Traffic can be heavy around the stadium on matchdays, especially closer to kick-off. To avoid delays, plan to arrive at least an hour before the match starts.
By Rail & Bus
If you are travelling to the ground on a c2c service, the closest station will be either Southend Central or Westcliff.
From Southend Central you can either walk to the stadium (approximately 25 minutes) or take the bus from Stop VS on Whitegate Road, on the opposite side of Southend High Street; buses normally run every 5 minutes however timings may vary. Alternatively, from Westcliff station, the walk is approximately 30 minutes. Off-Peak weekend c2c tickets purchased more than 3 days in advance of travel can benefit from a 33% discount – perfect for weekend fixtures.
Southend Central is one stop directly before Westcliff, meaning the journey is the same for either destination, and can be reached directly from either London Liverpool Street or West Ham. Take a Southern Service to London Bridge, then catch the tube to reach either station, with the Jubilee line to West Ham or the Northern line to Moorgate. From Moorgate, it is a five-minute walk to Liverpool Street.
By Coach
The coach for our trip to Southend United will depart from Gander Green Lane at 4pm.
Tickets for this journey cost £40, and the Supporters’ Club request supporters to meet at 3:45pm.
Bookings can be taken via The Supporters’ Hub on matchdays or email suttonunitedcoachtravel.com.
Any short notice changes will be highlighted on www.suttonunitedsupportersclub.co.uk.

Accessibility
All accessible entrances will be open as detailed in the stadium map below:
Away supporters will be located in the Solopress North Bank Stand. Our hosts will initially release 402 tickets in Block NF. Subject to demand, additional tickets will be made available in Blocks NE and ND, which are adjacent to Block NF.
When purchasing tickets online, please to select the correct block (starting with Block NF) to ensure you are seated together in the designated away section.
Away fans enter via Fairfax Drive, using turnstiles 13–16 to reach the North Stand.
Supporters who purchase in the wrong block and require relocation on the day will incur the additional £2 matchday price increase.
For more information, Southend’s Away Fan Guide can be viewed here.
Roots Hall stadium now operates as a cashless venue. This means that all payments must be made using card or contactless methods, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Operating a cashless system across the BTMK Box Office, bars, kiosks and corporate areas has been introduced to help enhance supporters’ matchday experience with the aim of increasing speed of service and cutting queue times of the club operations on a matchday, especially during peak times. Please ensure you bring an appropriate payment method with you when attending fixtures or events at Roots Hall.
Wheelchair & Ambulant Disabled
Registered disabled away fans are entitled to concessionary tickets and receive one free carer ticket (carer must be an adult). Valid proof such as High‑Rate Disability Living Allowance is required.
There are allocated wheelchair bays at the front of the North Stand (pitchside) with limited cover and restricted legroom due to the stand’s terraced conversion. Ambulant-access (easy‑access) seating is also provided nearby.
Supporters requesting tickets under Emergency Services, Armed Forces & Veterans, or Disabled/Carer pricing must send proof of eligibility in advance to tickets@southend-united.co.uk for account verification.

3 – This will be just the third ever meeting between Sutton and Southend, with Southend’s relegation to the National League in 2020/21 coinciding with Sutton’s promotion to League Two.

Last Time We Met
Ashley Nadesan struck with the last kick of the game to rescue a point against Southend United.
Ex-Sutton defender Ben Goodliffe had broken the deadlock midway through the first half when James Morton’s corner was flicked on towards the back post, where Goodliffe produced an acrobatic volley to draw first blood with a fine finish into the top corner, and set Southend on their way to a relatively comfortable second half.
However, Sutton produced a late, late escape, with Lewis Simper and Nadesan combining to rescue a point, the former hitting the post with a low effort that came back off the upright, falling into the path of Nadesan who slid the ball into the bottom corner at the death.

Played for Both
Ben Goodliffe
Ben Goodliffe spent six years at Sutton, playing a key role in the U’s run to and subsequent three-year stay in League Two, a historic period in Sutton folklore, before joining Southend at the start of the year.
The Watford-born defender began his career in the Boreham Wood academy, having initially played youth football at Tottenham Hotspur, before being picked up by Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017. Two years at Molineux saw him spend time out on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge during the 2018/19 season, before moving south with a switch to Sutton in July 2019.
While his maiden campaign was curtailed due the COVID-19 pandemic, he racked up 35 appearances before adding another 34 in the U’s promotion-winning campaign, with Goodliffe a regular at the heart of Sutton’s backline, and was something he maintained into the club’s EFL days under Matt Gray, along with his father, assistant manager Jason.
Having also been named in the National League Team of the Season, Goodliffe had established himself as a reliable defender within the lower leagues, and went on to appear over 150 times for the club after signing a new contract ahead of Sutton’s first season in League Two, becoming an increasingly important member of the backline across an unforgettable few seasons.
However, Sutton’s relegation under Steve Morison at the end of the 2023/24 campaign was followed by his departure from Gander Green Lane, with Goodliffe making the switch to Essex with a move to relegation rivals Colchester United, the side who pipped the U’s to survival the previous season. He appeared just a handful of times for the club though, before completing a loan move to rivals Southend in January 2025, a move he made permanent after helping the Shrimpers reach a play-off final in which they were ultimately unsuccessful.
