Altrincham enjoyed a successful season last season, finishing fourth in the National League table before being beaten by Bromley in the play-off semi final. They began this season with a win, beating Woking 1-0 at Moss Lane on Saturday despite playing nearly eighty minutes with ten men after the dismissal of Eddie Jones, although the visitors also had a player sent off early in the second half. Last season’s National League Player of the Year Chris Conn-Clarke joined Peterborough United during the summer, but Sutton supporters will be familiar with the name of Justin Amaluzor, who has impressed against U’s while with Braintree and Maidstone in Sutton’s previous time in the National League.

Sutton came back to grab a draw at Tamworth on Saturday thanks to Josh Coley’s late equaliser, and will be without Dillon De Silva against Altrincham after he went off injured in that game, although the injury is not as bad as first feared and it is hoped he could be back in action in six to eight weeks. Otherwise U’s have no issues ahead of the game.

Sutton and Altrincham have met on seven previous occasions, most recently in U’s championship 2020-21 championship season when a spectacular stoppage time equaliser from Connor Hampson saw Altrincham take a point in a 2-2 draw. U’s later won 4-0 in the return at Moss Lane. That was the first draw between the sides at Sutton, with U’s winning four of the remaining six games and Altrincham two.

Saturday’s referee is Stephen Parkinson, who has been a regular on the National League list since the start of last season and took charge of U’s EFL game at home to Harrogate in January.

Overseas supporters can watch the game on National League TV for £9.99 – click here to buy a pass. UK supporters unable to get to the game can listen to an audio commentary through our Mixlr channel.
