Sutton face two home games in the space of three days this week, with Dagenham & Redbridge due to visit on Tuesday but tomorrow bringing Chesterfield to the KCS for the second time. Last season, their first in the National League, Jonathan Smith’s late equaliser earned them a point after Jonah Ayunga’s first half goal, before the Spireites won comfortably on their own ground in March, Smith on target again in a 3-0 success.
The way Chesterfield finished last season under John Sheridan led to most people putting them towards the top of the list of clubs expected to be challenging for promotion this season, so their poor start to the season will have come as a surprise. It was only last week when they picked up their first victory, a single goal from highly rated striker Scott Boden enough to beat Torquay, and they will hope to push on from that result in the coming weeks.
Sutton’s draw at Wrexham was U’s sixth game without a win, and Craig Eastmond will miss tomorrow’s game through suspension following his red card for deliberate handball in that game. However manager Matt Gray is hopeful that Will Randall could be fit to return after a month out with an ankle injury, and Kyel Reid, who signed on Friday, will be added to the squad against the side for whom he made 25 appearances last season. Chesterfield have added a winger of their own this week, signing Gevaro Nepomuceno on loan from Oldham Athletic.
Tomorrow’s game will not be segregated, so supporters can enter through any turnstile and the bars will be open to all spectators.
As usual SUFCtv will have commentary on the game from 3pm on the Mixlr channel at http://mixlr.com/sufctv/
