After Saturday’s outstanding victory against Solihull, Sutton return to Gander Green Lane on Tuesday evening with Chesterfield the visitors. When the sides last met, at Chesterfield in January, a goal from Jonathan Smith gave the home side victory in their first game under John Pemberton’s management, and he kept the job until earlier this season when, after a run of five defeats in six National League games, he left to be replaced by James Rowe, who had supervised Gloucester City’s fine start in National League North.
Since the managerial change Chesterfield have taken four points, winning at Weymouth and drawing at home to Aldershot, and they have subsequently signed Weymouth’s midfielder Tom Whelan and Jak McCourt, who was with the club two years ago and played for Macclesfield last season. They lie in 18th place having won two of their five away games, with a 1-0 win at Yeovil as well as the Weymouth victory.
Sutton have enjoyed three straight wins since the defeat at Wrexham, and Saturday’s win put a six point gap between U’s and third placed Notts County. Rob Milsom is unlikely to be involved after coming off on Saturday with a hamstring injury while Omar Bugiel remains suspended.
Tickets for the game are now on general sale here, and we would remind everyone that you MUST have a specific match ticket to gain admission, a season ticket on its own will not get you in to the ground.
