Sutton and Ebbsfleet meet at Gander Green Lane tomorrow having experienced mixed fortunes in the FA Cup on Tuesday but both hoping to put recent poor form in the National League behind them. Over the last ten games the two teams are at the bottom of the form table, while more recently Ebbsfleet have lost their last four league games with U’s having taken just the one point earned against Stockport over the same period.
Ebbsfleet have had a troubled season with just two wins so far, at home to Barnet and away at Boreham Wood, and since the departure of manager Garry Hill, Kevin Watson has been in caretaker charge and saw his side win at Woking on Tuesday in their FA Cup replay to earn a first round tie at home to Notts County. The winner came from Alex Reid, on loan from Stevenage and netting his fifth goal of the season, three of which have been in the league, while the squad tomorrow could include Aswad Thomas, signed from Sutton in the summer, and midfielder Alfie Egan, who had a spell on loan with U’s two seasons ago.
Sutton’s experience on Tuesday was rather different, and for the first time since 2015 the FA Cup 1st round will take place without U’s, but recent form against Ebbsfleet is good, with 2015 also the year in which they last scored against Sutton, since when U’s have won four and drawn one of the subsequent encounters. Last season Gime Toure’s late goal decided things, while the previous season Tom Bolarinwa’s goal at Stonebridge Road (above) was voted U’s goal of the season.
Tickets are available on-line until midnight tonight, with a discount on the ‘on the day’ price, and there will be the usual coverage of the game on our Mixlr site.
