After suffering last minute disappointment for the second Saturday running, Sutton will hope that fortunes change tonight when FC Halifax Town make their second visit to South London in the space of three days. They too will be hoping that tonight shows an improvement on their experience on Saturday, when they conceded five second half goals to Bromley, as well as having Jerome Binnom-Williams sent off, which will rule him out of tonight’s game.

It was Halifax’s third consecutive league and cup defeat, and their third league game without scoring, but they still come to Sutton in third place in the table after a fine start to the season which saw them win seven out of their first nine matches. U’s will have to keep an eye on Liam McAlinden, signed from Cheltenham in the summer, who has seven league goals to his credit this season but experienced defender Matty Brown is likely to be sidelined through injury.

Sutton were without Jamie Collins, Tom Bolarinwa and Craig Eastmond due to injury on Saturday, when the last minute defeat against Ebbsfleet dropped U’s in to the bottom four for the first time this season, and will wait to see if any of the three are fit to return tonight against a side that has picked up one point from two previous visits to the ground, that coming in last season’s 1-1 draw when Kenny Davis scored U’s goal with a free kick.

As tonight’s game is our last home game before Remembrance weekend, we will be observing a minute’s silence prior to the game, which is sponsored by the Cheam and Sutton branch of the Royal British Legion.
