After another encouraging result at Dagenham on Tuesday, Sutton will look to record back to back National League victories for the first time this season tomorrow when Harrogate Town visit Gander Green Lane. After excelling last season, reaching the play-offs in their first campaign at National League level Harrogate struggled in the early part of the season to recapture that form, but from the middle of September they have gone through thirteen league games with only one defeat, and come in to tomorrow’s game in 7th place, four points behind leaders Barrow.
Sutton visited Wetherby Road two months ago just as Harrogate were beginning to find their form, and came back on the end of a 2-0 defeat, Jamie Collins having a penalty saved when U’s were one down, and Harrogate’s second goal coming in stoppage time. That defeat came four days after U’s had lost at home to Dagenham, and having gained revenge for that result on Tuesday U’s will hope that they can repeat that tomorrow.
Last season Sutton won an entertaining game 2-1, Harry Beautyman scoring a late winner after George Thomson had brilliantly cancelled out Jonah Ayunga’s opener (above), giving U’s four points from the two meetings after a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season.
Harrogate will be without the suspended Warren Burrell, who was sent off in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Halifax, when Harrogate escaped with a point thanks to an injury time own goal. For Sutton, Ben Goodliffe and Rob Milsom could be close to returns after missing the last couple of weeks through injury.
There is no segregation tomorrow. Half season tickets and Amber 500 tickets will be available tomorrow as Adrian Barry sets up his famous table inside the Gander Green Lane entrance, and with Christmas less than a month away the pop up shop will return to the Players’ Bar with a range of club clothing and souvenirs. We will also be once more auctioning shirts from players who have left, beginning with Dale Bennett’s home and away shirts.
