Sutton celebrate 100 years of playing at Gander Green Lane tomorrow (click here for further details), and for the second Saturday in a row face a side with an unblemished away record in this season’s Vanarama National League when Maidenhead are the visitors to what is now the Knights Community Stadium. Dover’s 2-1 win at Sutton last Saturday meant that they had won all three of their away games so far, and Maidenhead share a 100% record from their three games, notching up impressive looking victories against Stockport, Torquay and Yeovil. Like Dover, their home form has been less impressive, though, with Monday’s defeat against Bromley thir second in four home games, and they come in to tomorrow’s game in fifth place in the table, three points and four places above U’s.
Unbeaten away, Sutton are still looking for a first home win of the season, having drawn against Barnet and Chorley prior to last week’s game against Dover. Jamie Collins should be back to full fitness while manager Matt Gray is hoping that Dale Bennett and Jon Barden may have recovered from the knocks that kept them out of all or part of the Bank Holiday action. Definitely out are Will Randall (ankle) and Dan Matsuzaka(concussion).
Maidenhead have been something of a bogey side for Sutton in recent seasons, winning all four National League meetings since their promotion in 2017, including a 1-0 win at Sutton last season in which Craig Dundas (above) made one of his few appearances of the season, although he is now back and a regular member of the playing squad. Sutton’s last win against Maidenhead at Sutton came in December 2013.
Tickets can be bought on line at a discount until midnight tonight (Friday).
