Sutton’s first appearance in front of the BT cameras comes tomorrow at Wrexham, with both sides looking to end runs of five games without a league win. Wrexham’s last league success came in mid-August and represents one of only two defeats suffered by Halifax this season, while U’s have drawn two and lost three since the win at Boreham Wood.
Last Saturday saw Wrexham in action in the Scottish Challenge Cup, beating Ayr United on penalties, so they have a game in hand on U’s and go in to the weekend’s encounter two places behind Sutton in 18th place. At home, as well as Halifax, they have beaten Barrow and drawn with Barnet and Maidenhead, with their one home defeat coming against Stockport.
Both sides have players coming back from international duty this weekend, with Wrexham’s joint top scorer Mark Harris having been with Wales Under 21s and Omar Bugiel back at Sutton after playing for Lebanon, and he is available to play this weekend after his suspension for the red card against Maidenhead was overturned. Dan Matsuzaka has been back training this week after his lay-off following concussion.
Wrexham have Jake Lawlor suspended while goalkeeper Rob Lainton, defender Manny Smith and striker JJ Hooper are all likely to miss the game through injury.
