Besart Topallaj has come straight into the side to make his second debut for the club, appearing in Sutton colours for the first time since the final day of the 2024/25 season against Woking.
The Kosovo youth international is one of two changes to the starting lineup from the U’s last outing against Southend United, starting 2026 with the introductions of Topallaj and Charlie Bell, who replace Jack Taylor and Kai Jennings respectively.
Taylor, who has finally been given a breather to recover from his leg injury, drops out of the back three to leave a void on the left-hand side, with Topallaj partnering Will Tizzard and Hayden Muller, while Bell joins captain Jake Taylor in a midfield that is flanked by David Ogbonna and Junior Eccleston.
Brandon Njoku has also retained his place up front, leading the line in front of Lewis Simper and Jayden Harris.
Jennings has maintained his place in the team, being named on the bench due to fatigue, while Alex Woodyard has returned to the squad for the first time since November along with new recruits Dubem Eze and Chris Haigh.
