Sutton United Football Club and SUFC Foundation are working together to raise awareness for mental health.
Statistics show that one in four people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England and one in six people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England.
To help support fans on their mental wellbeing, The Speakeasy Club have provided two meeting points where supporters can come together to start a conversation, having set out to have a meeting point in every club and community organisation around the country, giving people a place to sit, talk and communicate and keep everybody’s mental wellness up.
By continuing our work with The Proper Blokes Club, along with Speakeasy, a bench has been installed in the fanzone and a barrel in the MBA Lounge, both containing QR codes which provide people with mental health resources and access to different support groups, giving any fan or member of staff the opportunity to talk if they need to.
Talking about mental health isn’t aways easy, but one conversation has the power to change lives. For more information, visit www.speakeasyclub.co.uk/ and www.theproperblokesclub.co.uk/.
Mental health matters. It’s time to talk.
