Sutton United can confirm Saturday’s encounter against Scunthorpe United has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
A suitably qualified match official inspected the Attis Arena playing surface, with communication to the appointed match referee George Laflin. The usual areas of concern where the pitch receives no sunlight at the south side of the stadium became prominent, with the frost setting into the playing surface, despite the pitch being covered on Thursday night.
With Sutton set to travel on Friday afternoon, and taking in consideration the overnight temperatures being even lower than on Thursday night, our hosts took the decision to call a pitch inspection at a similar time to one being required on Saturday, with the pitch set to be in a similar condition 24 hours on.
Communicating with our opponents, the league and the appointed match official, it was unanimous that with the playing surface frozen today the situation would be the same tomorrow, therefore agreeing to postpone the game to a later date.
As soon as we have a new date for the fixture, we will announce. As per Scunthorpe’s ticketing terms on conditions, refunds can be processed once the fixture has been rearranged.
