Sutton United Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Phil Tattersall as the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, 27th October. The appointment has been approved by the Board of Directors and marks an exciting new chapter in the club’s ongoing growth and development.
Over the past several weeks, the club has undertaken an extensive process of research, interviews, and analysis to identify the right individual to take on this key leadership role. The goal was clear — to find someone who could bring clarity, focus, and structure to the club’s operations, with strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of what makes Sutton United special.
After careful consideration, the Board is confident that Phil is the ideal fit for this position.
Phil brings with him nearly 40 years of experience in media, marketing, and business leadership. Until recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer at IPG Mediabrands, one of the world’s largest global marketing and advertising networks, where he led teams of hundreds across multiple markets.
In addition to his impressive professional background, Phil has been a long-time supporter and volunteer at Sutton United. His passion for the club, coupled with his proven ability to lead complex organisations, makes him uniquely positioned to help guide the club towards its mission of being a successful and sustainable EFL club.
Speaking about the appointment, the Sutton United board said:
“We believe we now have things on the pitch heading in the right direction – and it’s time to focus intently on the off-pitch side. Phil’s appointment is a huge step forward in achieving that balance. He didn’t seek out this role; we sought him out, and we’re thrilled that he has accepted. His combination of business expertise and love for Sutton United makes him the perfect person to help lead the club into its next chapter.”
Commenting on his appointment, Phil Tattersall said:
“It’s a huge honour to be taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Sutton United. The club has been a big part of my life for many years, and I’m excited to help build on the strong foundations already in place. There’s incredible potential here, and I look forward to working with everyone involved to continue driving the club forward – both on and off the pitch.”
Everyone at Sutton United extends a very warm welcome to Phil as he takes up his new role.
Welcome, Phil — and Up the U’s! 💛
