Sutton United CP had a successful opening day of the newly created National Cerebral Palsy Football League at the weekend with a win over Tottenham Hotspur and a draw with Brighton Hove Albion.

The opening game of the day saw the U’s comfortably overcome Spurs 4-0 with a hatrick from Luke Burley and a goal from Hassan Dabre, brother of First Team midfielder Mo.

Sutton’s second game saw them take on Brighton in a closely fought game which ended with both sides coming away with a point. Again it was Burley who got on the scoresheet leveling things after The Seagulls took the early lead.

Head of CP football Glen May said after the games that:

“We’ve got a good base today I think, a win and a draw. We’re all a little bit disappointed maybe with the draw because we felt we had all the possession. But as I say, the guys were getting tired towards the end and muscles were starting to go. But, it was a good base to build on.”

The next round of games will take place on 11th October where the U’s will play Norwich City and Burton. The games will be held in The Nest Community Hub in Norwich.
