Sutton United Football Club can confirm that Will Davies has completed a permanent move to League Two side Fleetwood Town, bringing in one of the highest transfer fees the club has ever received.
The striker joins the League Two side having finished the 2024/25 campaign in 14th, and will be looking to kick on under Pete Wild, who joined the Fishermen himself midway through the season.
Davies initially joined the U’s from York City last summer having spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at Bromley, and went on enjoy a superb campaign in amber and chocolate which saw him score 20 goals in all competitions.
After scoring his first goal in Sutton’s first home game of the season against Altrincham, the 26-year old went on to become the club’s top scorer, and included a notable match-winning brace away at his former club York along with crucial strikes against the likes of Barnet, Eastleigh, Kidderminster Harriers, Wealdstone, AFC Fylde and Dagenham & Redbridge.
A breathtaking run of form midway through the campaign saw him rack up nine goals in 11 games and set him on his way to a career-best tally of 20 goals; his highest amount scored a single season.
Pursuant to the fans’ forum in April, Sutton is pivoting to a data-led model similar to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, allowing players to progress to higher levels and will help the U’s become sustainable whilst also improving its squad.
We believe Will is a prime example of this and would like to thank him for his service, while wishing him all the best for the future.
