Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of Dillon De Silva, who joins Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until January.

The forward joins up with a Daggers side who currently sit 12th in the National League South, and will be looking to bolster their ranks in an attempt to push up the league following their relegation last season, adding quality to a team that consists of the likes of former Newcastle United, Liverpool and West Ham United man Andy Carroll, as well as former U’s Donovan Wilson and Christian N’Guessan.

De Silva embarks on his second loan spell of the campaign so far, having spent the last month at Tamworth. He played twice for the Lambs before being selected for international duty, enjoying a goalscoring debut with a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat to Boston United, with the forward striking in stoppage time to cap a 14-minute cameo in Staffordshire.

He followed this up with a brief appearance in the Emirates FA Cup against Leyton Orient, in which Andy Peaks’ side bowed out of the competition after a 1-0 loss, before going up with the Sri Lanka squad for their penultimate Asia Cup qualifier against Thailand.

The 23-year old initially joined Sutton in May 2024, having departed Wealdstone after a brief period at Grosvenor Vale, having left Torquay United after spending two years in Devon, partially on loan.

De Silva had begun his career in the academies of Tottenham Hotspur, Barking and Queens Park Rangers before his move to Plainmoor, where he struck five goals for the Gulls in both the National League and National League South, later establishing himself in the fifth tier with a further two strikes for Wealdstone, before opening his Sutton account in the National League Cup against Nottingham Forest.

He followed this up with his first league goal with the winner against Maidenhead United, and in total has appeared over 50 times in all competitions.

Good luck, Dillon!
