Sutton United Football Club can confirm the temporary departures of Eduino Vaz and Nana Boateng, who join Hampton & Richmond Borough on loan until the end of the season.
The duo arrive at a Beavers side who currently sit 21st in the National League South, and will be looking to bolster their ranks in an attempt to push up the league and outside the drop zone under Alan Dowson, who replaced former Sutton goalkeeper Alan Julian in the dugout, with both potentially being involved in tomorrow’s clash with Dorking Wanderers.
Vaz departs in search of regular football after recovering from an MCL injury, which he sustained in the defeat to Forest Green Rovers back in August, with the Bissau-Guinean appearing seven times since then including just two starts.
He played 89 minutes in the National League Cup against Southampton, before a brief cameo against Gateshead four days later, and he then scored his first goal since March with the winner against AFC Croydon Athletic, following it up with further substitute appearances against Shrewsbury Town, Solihull Moors and Aldershot Town.
The 23-year old originally made the switch to Sutton in the summer of 2024 from Aveley, having been a key part of the Millers team that reached the National League South play-offs in what was just their first season in the division.
Prior to his move to Parkside, he had begun his career with Chelmsford City, impressing with his marauding runs and mature defending to earn a move to League One side Barnsley, before returning to Essex to join Aveley after seven months with the Tykes.
A single season with the Millers preceded his move to Sutton, where he played 44 times in all competitions during his maiden campaign in the National League, with highlights including a Goal of the Season contender with a rocket of a strike against Eastleigh, as well as the winning penalty in the National League Cup Semi-Final away at Braintree Town.
Boateng meanwhile joins Vaz at the Beveree Stadium after his loan spell with Hemel Hempstead Town came to an end.
The former Millwall man moved to Hertfordshire on loan until January, giving him the opportunity to return to first team football after being frozen out during the first half of the campaign.
He went on to appear four times in the league for the Tudors, being denied his first goal since February by the offside flag in a 4-0 defeat against Hornchurch, while also making his first start since the final day of the 2024/25 campaign in the Herts Senior Cup against London Lions.
Like Vaz, Boateng originally joined Sutton in the summer of 2024 following his departure from Millwall, where he had risen through the ranks.
Loan spells at Woking and Solihull Moors saw him gain National League experience prior to his permanent switch to Gander Green Lane, with the 23-year old going on to feature 27 times in the league, as well as playing a central role in the U’s run to the National League Cup Final, scoring in successive wins over West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United, while also notching decisive penalties in two triumphant shootouts, one over the Baggies, along with one against Ebbsfleet United in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
The 23-year old last featured for Sutton with an 11-minute cameo from the bench as the U’s ended the 2024/25 season with a 1-1 draw at home to Woking.
Good luck, lads!
