Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Dubem Eze on a permanent deal from League One side Bolton Wanderers, for an undisclosed fee.

The exciting attacking midfielder joins Chris Agutter’s ranks fresh off a loan spell at fellow National League outfit Scunthorpe United, and will offer versatility, skill and trickery in the centre of the park for his new side.

Hailing from Morden, South London, Eze’s career began in the youth ranks at Chelsea where he spent the bulk of his early years, before switches to Derby County and Norwich City saw him make the bold decision to move away from home.

Initially turning out for the latter at Under-21 level, he gained senior experience on loan at Warrington Town before earning a move to Bolton Wanderers’ B Team, having scored twice in six appearances during his stint with the Yellows.

The 20-year old went on to appear a handful of times for the Trotters, as well as impressing in training throughout his time in Lancashire, but continued to gain invaluable minutes away on loan once more.

Eze spent the bulk of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Chorley, but ended the season one step up when he moved to FC Halifax Town, closing out the season by helping the Shaymen achieve top seven status and a shot at promotion via the play-offs.

This preceded a move to newly promoted outfit Scunthorpe United last summer, with the midfielder appearing a handful of times as the Iron have defied all expectations to sit towards the top end of the fifth tier, before opting to move to make the switch away from his parent club on a permanent basis as he looks to further his career closer to home.

After putting pen to paper on his Sutton deal, Eze said:

“I’m over the moon, I’m excited to be here.

It feels like I’m back home, being from just around the corner. It’s good to be here and I’m excited to get started.

It was a no brainer, speaking to Agi, he sold it to me as soon as I heard of the project, I’ve seen how things have turned and how he wants to finish the rest of the season it was a no brainer for me to come and sign here.”

He will wear the number 47 shirt during his time at the VBS Community Stadium.

Welcome to Sutton, Dubem!
