Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm the arrival of Liam Vincent, who joins from Tonbridge Angels ahead of the 2025/26 Vanarama National League campaign.
A left sided player, equally comfortable at full back or in midfield, Vincent will add additional quality on the flank and some much-needed depth alongside Eduino Vaz, replacing Besart Topallaj following the expiry of the Bromley man’s loan spell.
A product of the Ravens’ academy, Vincent began his career at Hayes Lane and appeared a handful of times for the club, before being picked up by Portsmouth in 2022. He would be named on the Pompey bench nine times during his brief stint in Hampshire, but following a debut campaign which was marred by injury, primarily spent time out on loan with a whole host of temporary stints away from Fratton Park as he looked to gain experience.
This saw him spend time at Maidstone United, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Worthing, Chelmsford City and finally Tonbridge, where he initially moved to on a one-month deal as cover for the injured Jernade Meade, before remaining at the club until to the end of the season. His time at the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium saw him show his versatility by covering a number of positions, and ended the campaign with 16 appearances to his name.
A successful spell in Kent saw him return to the club on a permanent deal ahead of the 2024/25 season, and he became an ever-present for the National League South side, making 41 appearances in all competitions as well scoring nine goals from the left wing, joint with Sean Shields as the club’s top scorer last term.
Upon putting pen to paper to a deal at Sutton, Vincent said:
“I’m looking to play more games, score goals, get assists and get the club as high as possible in the league, and ultimately get promoted.
I can’t wait to meet the supporters and I can’t wait for the season to start”
Welcome to Sutton United, Liam!
