Sutton United Football Club can confirm the permanent departure of Harry Phipps, who joins National League South side Eastbourne Borough.
The defender arrived at Gander Green Lane in the summer from Dagenham & Redbridge following their relegation to the sixth tier, having spent the previous seven seasons as a Dagger, and has gone on to play 21 times in all competitions for the U’s.
A tenacious, versatile, defensive-minded player, he played fairly regularly under Steve Morison during the opening few months of the campaign as well as captaining the side on occasion, and was a popular member of the dressing room during his brief stint in South London.
Phipps now reunites with Tommy Widdrington, having spent a brief period on loan at Widdrington’s King’s Lynn Town during the 2021/22 season.
We would like to wish Harry all the best for the future.
