Sutton United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Edon Pruti from Slough Town, joining the U’s for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old becomes Steve Morison’s first signing of the summer ahead of the 2025/26 Vanarama National League campaign, and will add a towering presence at the heart of the Head Coach’s backline.
Born in Chelsea, Pruti was on the books of Stevenage as a teenager before spotted by Premier League side Burnley, earning a move to Turf Moor on a two-year scholarship at the end of the 2017/18 season, then aged just 16.
He subsequently spent time on loan in the North West Counties League First Division South with a brief stint at Abbey Hey, experiencing men’s football for the first time, before dropping into non-league permanently with a move to Hanwell Town following his release from the Clarets, and subsequently enjoyed spells at Loughborough University and a first stint with Slough.
A move to Brentford then came about in 2022, joining the Bees’ B team on a one-year contract, before making the switch to League Two side Hartlepool United after just five months at the Gtech Community Stadium. Becoming an ever-present in County Durham, Pruti made 21 appearances during the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, although he was unable to help prevent the Pools’ relegation to the National League. Nonetheless, the centre back still saw his deal extended by the club, playing twice for the club in the fifth tier before spending the majority of the 2023/24 season on loan at Farnborough.
The defender quickly impressed in Hampshire and soon made the move back to the south permanent following the expiry of his Hartlepool contract. Pruti made a further 25 appearances for the club during the first half of the season as the Yellows looked to mount a challenge on the play-offs, before making the move to a fellow National League South side with a return to former club Slough midway through the campaign. He subsequently played 16 times as the Rebels finished 16th, bringing his total tally for the club to 38 appearances including three goals from defence.
Also an Albania youth international, Pruti is capped by Kuqezinjtë at Under-19 and Under-21 level after switching his allegiance from both Kosovo and Bosnia & Herzegovina, having been called up to training camps for each in April 2019 and January 2020 respectively.
Upon signing for the U’s, Pruti said:
“It feels great. I’m absolutely delighted to get here; to get to this massive club and hopefully have a really strong season.”
“The move came about relatively quickly; straight after the [2024/25] season finished, I heard about what was going on and I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible”
Welcome to Sutton United, Edon!
