Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of David Ogbonna, joining from Slough Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year old forward follows Edon Pruti as the second player to sign from National League South side Slough this summer, and the sixth signing overall, and will be prove to be a real livewire and goal threat from the flanks heading into the 2025/26 season.
Ogbonna signed for Hendon at the age of 18 and made his debut in a 3-2 defeat to Hayes & Yeading United, going on to score one goal in four games for the Greens after arriving in October 2019 before moving on to Hertford Town a month later.
Four seasons with the Blues saw him rack up over 100 appearances, and having featured sparingly during his first two years at Hertingfordbury Park due to the COVID-19 pandemic curtailing the 2020/21 season, he broke into the team during his latter two seasons where he notably scored 31 goals from the wing.
Successive impressive years in the Southern League saw him receive plenty of potential suitors from higher up non-league, and he soon earned a move to the National League South with Slough confirming his arrival in July 2023.
He went on to appear 97 times for the Rebels, scoring ten goals, and proved to be a key part of the side that secured consecutive mid-table finishes, as well as playing a key role in Slough’s 2023/24 FA Cup run that saw them visit Grimsby Town.
After agreeing to join the U’s, Ogbonna said:
“I know that Sutton came in for me last season and I felt that I wasn’t ready, but now I feel it’s the right time to make the jump to here”.
Welcome to Sutton United, David!
