Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of Will Tizzard on an initial 28-day loan to Torquay United.
The Gulls, who are winless in their last four outings, have aimed to bolster their ranks in a bid to keep pace in the National League South title race, with Paul Wotton’s side currently sitting third in the National League South after losing to promotion rivals Worthing last time out, and are nine points behind league leaders Dorking Wanderers.
Tizzard has been a fairly regular figure at the heart of Sutton’s backline since signing from Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park last summer, including 18 appearances in the league.
The defender scored his first goal for the club with a memorable winner at the death against Farnham Town in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replay, and followed it up with opening strikes in eventual defeats against Solihull Moors and York City.
In all, he has racked up 35 appearances in all competitions, but has slid down the pecking order in recent weeks and hasn’t featured since the 1-1 draw with Brackley Town last month, resulting in a short-term departure from the VBS Community Stadium.
Prior to his move to South London, Tizzard came through the Southampton academy and gained senior experience on loan in the National League South with Chippenham Town, before departing St Mary’s after more than ten years with the club.
He subsequently opted to move across the border when he made the switch to Queen’s Park on a three-year deal, and became an ever-present at Lesser Hampden, helping the Spiders secure successive eighth place finishes in the second tier of Scottish football, before departing the club in May 2025.
The 23-year old followed his exit up with a move to Sutton, with Tizzard appearing in a host of competitions for the U’s prior to his switch to Devon.
Good luck, Tizz!
