Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Will Tizzard following his departure from Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park.

The 22-year old centre back, who began his career at Southampton, joins the ranks at Gander Green Lane as another defensive option for Steve Morison, following the arrival of Edon Pruti earlier this summer.

A product of the Saints’ academy, Tizzard was awarded Scholar of the Year at the end of the 2020/21 season and was rewarded with his first professional contract, before gaining experience on loan in the National League South with Chippenham Town.

Initially joining on a short-term deal, he saw his loan spell extended until the end of the 2022/23 campaign and went on to play 23 times for the club, before departing St Mary’s after more than ten years with the club.

He subsequently opted to move across the border when he made the switch to Queen’s Park on a three-year deal, and enjoyed two years in Scotland as the Spiders looked to bounce back from defeat in the play-offs the previous season, having almost won back-to-back promotions.

Tizzard became remain an ever-present at Lesser Hampden despite four different managers taking charge across his time at the club, and helped the club secure successive eighth place finishes in the second tier of Scottish football, before departing the club last month.

Upon signing for the U’s, Tizzard said:

“It feels amazing, I’m really excited to get started now and get started with pre-season, start playing some games. Just really, really looking forward to the season ahead.”

“I’m really excited for seeing what we can do as a squad and as a team. Let’s try finish as high up in the table as we can.”

Welcome to Sutton United, Will!
