Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Tommy Reid on loan until January.
The goalkeeper becomes the first signing of the Chris Agutter era with a move from Charlton Athletic, and will offer additional quality in between the sticks.
The Hastings-born stopper, who has been capped by England at youth level, spent 11 years at Brighton & Hove Albion after joining the Seagulls aged eight.
He gained valuable first-team experience during his time on the south coast during non-League loan spells with Burgess Hill Town, Worthing and AFC Totton, before making the switch to Charlton.
Reid joined the Addicks’ academy ranks in September 2024 following a successful trial period, keeping three clean sheets in five appearances for Chris Lock’s Under-21s as they kickstarted their 2024/25 season with an impressive unbeaten run.
His impressive form saw him rewarded with the a new contract until 2026 in January 2025, after starting the year with that new deal, he will now end it by playing at the highest level of football in his career so far with a move to the National League.
Reid will wear the number 27 during his stint at Sutton.
After putting to paper on his loan deal, Reid said:
“I’m buzzing, really excited.
I’ve known the manager a long time – he was one of my first ever coaches at five or six so I’ve always been in contact and when he got the job here I had it in the back of my mind that there could be a chance to come here and over the last few weeks things developed.
I’m really excited and can’t wait to get started.”
Welcome to Sutton, Tommy!
