Sutton United Football Club can confirm that Tommy Reid has been recalled from his loan spell by parent club, Charlton Athletic.
Reid arrived at the VBS Community Stadium as Chris Agutter’s first signing back in October and has played a key role in Jack Sims’ absence during a spell that was initially set to be until January.
The 21-year old, who reunited with the U’s Head Coach having worked with him in Brighton & Hove Albion’s academy, going back to when he was just seven years old, appeared eight times for Sutton in all competitions after making his debut away at Wealdstone, and after falling to defeat in that game, played a key role in the subsequent unbeaten run that immediately followed, appearing in every game up until the win over Truro City towards the end of November.
He notably saved a penalty in the 2-0 win over FC Halifax Town, contributing to the U’s first clean sheet since Agutter’s opening game in charge away at Braintree Town, and just the third in total for the season, producing some crucial cover for Sims during his back injury.
Reid’s last appearance came during the week in the 2-1 win over AFC Croydon Athletic in the Surrey Senior Cup, playing 45 minutes before making way for David Aziaya at half time in order to give additional opportunities to the former Bromley man, with the goalkeeper keeping another clean sheet during his opening half against the Rams.
He now returns to a Charlton side who sit 17th in the Championship table.
We would like to thank Tommy for his efforts and him all the best for the future.
