Eduino Vaz

Eduino Vaz made the switch to Sutton in June 2024, having previously turned out for Aveley in the National League South.

Born in the West African country Guinea-Bissau, Vaz began his career with Chelmsford City and made 50 appearances for the Clarets, impressing with his marauding runs and mature defending since making the step up from the club’s reserves during the 2021/22 season.

His form saw him pen a new deal ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, but he had caught the attention of numerous scouts and made the move to League One side Barnsley during the subsequent January transfer window.

After seven months in the Tykes’ youth team, Vaz would be on the move once more and he returned to the National League South when he joined Aveley in August 2023. The 20-year old would appear 44 times in all competitions for the Millers and scored five goals from left back, as well as playing 90 minutes in the play-off eliminator round against Maidstone United, contributing an assist as the Millers’ hopes of a third successive promotion were ended.

Nonetheless, Vaz found himself in the fifth tier with a move to Sutton, and his infectious personality made him a popular member within the dressing room. He scored his first goal with a cracking Goal of the Season nominating strike away at Eastleigh in August 2024, and ended the campaign with 44 appearances in all competitions.

Vaz notably sent the U’s to the National League Cup Final with the winning penalty at the end of the shootout away at Braintree Town in the semi-final, and committed his future by triggering a contract extension in March 2025.
