Goals either side of half time was enough to seal victory over the AFC Wimbledon XI, as Sutton United’s Women’s side kick-started pre-season with an impressive 2-1 win over The Dons in a behind closed doors encounter.

The U’s drew first blood at Walton & Hersham’s Elmbridge Sports Hub, taking the lead after half-an-hour when Emma Spear got off the mark for 2025/26, and sent Sutton into half time ahead.

Wholesale changes at the break saw Lucy Clark use her entire bench at the interval, and preceded substitute Beth Humphrey having an instant impact, extending Sutton’s advantage just after the restart when she converted a penalty.

The Dons did pull a goal back four minutes later, but Sutton did enough to secure a narrow win to start pre-season.
