Farnham Town have been confirmed as Sutton’s Surrey Senior Cup Semi-Final opponents, having beaten Tooting & Mitcham United at Imperial Fields this evening.

The Town sealed a narrow victory thanks to a first half Owen Dean goal, tapping home the rebound from a Seb Bowerman attempt that hit the post, and led to a controlled second half from the Southern League Premier Division South side, who sit third in their division and have cemented their play-off spot this term to maintain a shot at back-to-back promotions.

Victory over the Stripes means Farnham enter the last four of the competition for the first time since their meeting with Sutton in 2023/24, where an academy side were defeated by the Town at the VBS Community Stadium courtesy of goals from Jack Dean and Lewis Flatman (2).

This term, Paul Johnson’s side previously beat Epsom & Ewell and Kingstonian on the way, while the U’s overcame Guildford City, AFC Croydon Athletic and Horley Town, and could next face Cobham or Merstham who compete in the other semi-final.

A date and kick-off time for the match will be confirmed in due course.

The tie will also a bring a third clash between the two sides this season, having met in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.

After two Darryl Sanders (2) strikes were cancelled out by with goals from Harry Phipps and Brandon Njoku, an Owen Dean effort was eventually cancelled out by a late equaliser from Jayden Harris to bring the tie to a replay, which led to an even more dramatic encounter which saw goals from Bobby-Joe Taylor and Dean give Farnham the advantage on two more occasions, both being cancelled out by Lewis Simper and David Ogbonna strikes, before a stoppage time Will Tizzard attempt sealed a last gasp victory, with the two sides battling out two topsy-turvy six-goal and five-goal thrillers.

As a result, this will also be Sutton’s second visit to the Memorial Ground this season, having previously only visited once in their entire history – a 3-1 win in the Surrey Senior Cup – 20 years ago, and will be the sixth clash in total.
