Steve Morison has provided a squad update ahead of Sutton’s visit of Carlisle United on Saturday.

A sickness bug in the camp means the Head Coach could be without David Aziaya, Ashley Nadesan, Lewis Simper, Aaron Jones and Kane Crichlow, with Morison having to utilise the whole of his squad during training this week.

“Graham [Cowell] went down sick and slowly we’ve had people dropping like flies all week, so it’s been a challenging week. David [Aziaya], Naders [Ashley Nadesan], Simps [Lewis Simper], Jonesy [Aaron Jones] today, Kane [Crichlow] today. So, yeah, it’s been challenging, obviously they haven’t been at training, they’ve been at home ill, so we’re just working with the players that are here and we’re going to try and get everything out of this group on Saturday.”

“It’s a massive game at home against a very good team. It’s challenging me, us at the minute. We keep working hard, we keep smiling, we keep working hard as a group. We just work towards getting a positive result on Saturday.”

Morison also confirmed the nature of Eduino Vaz’s injury, who is set to miss three to four months with an MCL injury, while Alex Woodyard has been absent in recent weeks due to a knock on his hyperextended knee after a collision, and will miss four to eight weeks.

Will Tizzard is also unavailable, having picked up a knock alongside both Vaz and Woodyard in the defeat to Forest Green Rovers, and will join Vaz, Woodyard and Alex Kirk in the treatment room until the middle to the end of September with a knee injury.

“Kirky [Alex Kirk] has had a setback, so he’s going to be out for a while. Obviously, you’ve got [Eduino] Vaz, he’s unfortunately done his MCL so he’ll be out three to four months minimum. Woody [Alex Woodyard] had a knock on his hyperextended knee in that game in a collision, so he won’t be available for four to six, eight weeks, so he’s going to be out for a while.

“And then Will Tizzard, he took a knock to his knee in the Forest Green game and he’s going to be out until the middle to the end of September as well, so yeah, it’s a testing time. and there’s not a lot you can do about impact injuries. We just have to try and find a way.”

Furthermore, Liam Vincent is set to serve the second game of his three-match suspension, having seen red in the defeat to Scunthorpe United. As a result, he missed the defeat to Rochdale AFC on Bank Holiday Monday, and will miss the games against Carlisle and Boreham Wood before being available for action once more ahead of the trip to Altrincham (Saturday, 6th September).
