Chris Agutter has provided updates on Jack Wadham and Liam Vincent.

The duo have been missing over the last few games, with the former last featuring in the National League Cup defeat to West Ham United, and was an unused substitute against Wealdstone, while Vincent last appeared in the Head Coach’s first game in charge following his move from Worthing, playing a little over an hour against Braintree Town.

Agutter has now confirmed the nature of their injuries, with both sustaining long-term injuries in training. Vincent is set to miss six weeks with a knock to his ankle, while Wadham will remain absent for four to six months with a knee injury.

“It’s disappointing news but unfortunately it’s also a part of the game. Both players will get the care and support they need throughout their recovery and we look forward to getting them back on the pitch and in a Sutton United shirt as soon as possible.”

The Head Coach will otherwise have a similar group of players available to him ahead of the visit of Eastleigh, and will be keen to maintain his squad as the schedule approaches the busy Christmas period.

Alex Woodyard completed his next steps towards making a full recovery from the knee injury which had kept him out since August, taking the captain’s armband and appearing in the entire second half of Saturday’s win over AFC Telford United, which followed on from his cameo appearance away at Guildford City a week ago.

Agutter has previously described the former Colchester United man as a ‘hugely important player’ due to his leadership qualities and voice in the centre of the park, and touched on his keenness to get the midfielder back out there as quickly as possible.

In addition, Edon Pruti and David Ogbonna both featured for the bulk of the win last weekend having previously been set to miss the game due to respective facial and hamstring injuries, but were given the green light to appear from the off against Telford, and means Eduino Vaz (MCL), Jack Sims (back) and Alex Kirk (back) are the only players currently unavailable for selection alongside Wadham and Vincent, though the former two are making positive strides in their respective recoveries and are hoped to return to action within the coming weeks.
