Jake Taylor is set to miss the next two to three games with a concussion, sustained on Wednesday night against Yeovil Town.
The midfielder went down moments after the Glovers’ late winner under a hefty challenge which extended the original seven minutes of stoppage time to almost double that, and saw him briefly replaced by Dubem Eze at Huish Park.
“He’s got concussion, so he’ll go through the full concussion protocol. It’s a minimum of ten days, rightly so because of the potential consequences of that process not being followed thoroughly. Our medical team are brilliant and incredibly diligent.”
“Unfortunately for us he’s missing the next two, probably three games, which is a loss. But his health comes first and we’re certainly not going to risk that. Equally, we’ve got a good group and a squad capable of dealing with injuries and suspensions. It’s an opportunity for somebody else to grab the bull by the horns.”
On a more positive note though, Taylor’s absence will be immediately filled by the returning Charlie Bell, who is back and available for selection after returning from a three-match ban.
The 18-year old was forced to watch on as Sutton beat Woking and Wealdstone, along with the defeat at Yeovil, having been shown a straight red card in the 1-1 draw with Braintree Town for a late challenge on George Langston.
However, his return will prove to be a big boost to Chris Agutter’s side, along with Jayden Harris who missed the trip to Somerset with a hamstring problem, but has been given the green light to travel to West Yorkshire.
“I’ve missed him, he was playing very well before he picked up his injury. We’re just looking forward to welcoming him back into the squad. Same with Jayden Harris as well – he’s been given the green light from his hamstring injury. We’re happy with the group we’re taking to Halifax.”
