Chris Agutter has provided a squad update ahead of Sutton’s trip to Gateshead, with the Head Coach having largely the same squad available for selection to the one that beat Scunthorpe United during the week.
The boss has confirmed that Hayden Muller took a whack in Lincolnshire, though he will remain available for selection, while Brandon Njoku has continued to play with his injury, and will remain in the squad despite that.
“Hayden had a bit of a whack but he’s tough to be fair he’s been injured, well not 100%, for a while now but he keeps going through games.”
“Brandon Njoku continues to play with his injuries and continues to produce an exceptional level of performance for us and really deliver for us. So other than that, as we were.”
In addition, Besart Topallaj’s availability is a question mark, and he could miss out on the trip to the North-East due to family reasons following the birth of his child.
“We’ve actually got a congratulations to give as Bes has just become a dad, which is amazing news. Really happy for him, so on behalf of the whole football club we wish him and his family all the best.”
“His availability is a question mark, understandably.”
Aaron Jones (knee), Jack Wadham (knee) and Alex Kirk (back) all remain as longer-term absentees.
There are otherwise no other major new injury concerns as the U’s prepare for another long trip up north, with Agutter’s decision to rotate during the week being a learning curve for the boss.
“It’s a balancing act. We might be forced into a couple of changes due to injury potentially and also learning from previous mistakes with a long away trip.”
“It’s something to certainly consider in terms of shuffling the pack, but we haven’t made any concrete decisions on that as yet.”
