Jake Taylor could make his Sutton debut tomorrow afternoon, with the midfielder available for selection ahead of the trip to Morecambe.
The 33-year old joined the U’s from Eastleigh on the eve of Wednesday’s clash with the Spitfires, and therefore came too soon for him to make his maiden Sutton outing against his former club.
He has since trained ahead of the trip to the Mazuma Mobile Stadium though, and is in line to feature for the first time in amber and chocolate.
“He’s got assurance and an authority and the way he carries himself, coupled with the fact that he’s a very, very good footballer, he can’t not have a positive influence on what is a very young group.”
“It’s a really good addition for us, he will add value to the team in terms of his own level of performance but what he’ll also do is make other players better, through his experience, his personality, his communication. It’s a really big addition for us and we want to get him in the team as fast as possible because I think he’ll make us even more competitive.”
Chris Agutter also provided an update on Edon Pruti, who was forced off during the midweek win over Eastleigh with a knock, having played with a face mask due to a suspected broke nose sustained against West Ham United last month.
The Head Coach however said he was hopeful he will be in the starting lineup at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, with the Albania youth international returning to training ahead of the match.
“Pruts has trained this morning, he’s a warrior we’ll try and get him out there for sure. He’s desperate to play and I think he’s been a key part of putting together a number of wins. We want to get him out there, he wants to be out there so we’re hopeful that he’s going to be in the starting line-up tomorrow.”
Furthermore, Agutter suggested there could be a couple of changes to the team from midweek, but otherwise has a similar squad available to him as they look to build on what was a crucial victory in South London, and extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games.
“Woody continues to get up to speed, there’s a real competition for places which is good, the lads that haven’t been playing have certainly in terms of the way they’ve trained have laid down a few markers in terms of showing they’re ready for selection. They’ve certainly gave us some decisions to make which is good
“I envisage a couple of changes perhaps from the side that beat Eastleigh, as good as we were, what we see on the training pitch certainly today is a real hunger from the players not playing to get into that starting lineup.”
